| Community Charity Concert
Since 4 May 2010, the Hai-O Foundationhas been collaborating with Sin Chew Daily on a charity concert tour called “Ai Hua Jiao” (爱华教) to raise funds for selected Chinese-medium schools. The first round of this fund raising concert tour had successfully ended on 7 May 2010. The second leg of the concert tour commenced from 5 November 2010 at SJK(C) Batu 14 in Hulu Langat, Selangor, and subsequently in SJK(C) Chung Kuo in Malacca (6 November 2010); SJK(C) Ladang Sungai Salak, Taman Seremban Jaya in Seremban (7 November 2010), and finally, at SMJK Hwa Lian Mentakab in Pahang (8 November 2010). The funds raised in both the first and second rounds of the tours had reached more than RM 5.3 million in total. Blood Donation Campaign
On 31 July 2010, the Hai-O Foundation together with the Young Malaysian Movement (YMM) and the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia’s Women Section organized a large-scale blood donation campaign called “Women Illuminating The World” at the Swan Convention Centre of the Sunway Medical Centre. It was successful in attracting 849 women to participate in the blood donation drive. And it also broke the previous record of 415 for the ‘Most Women Blood Donors In One Day” in the Malaysian Book of Records.
More than 40 organizations of different ethnic backgrounds joined the campaign in an effort to make the event a success. They included Hai-O Marketing Sdn Bhd, Sunway Group Bhd, MAHSA, St. John Ambulance, National Association of Women Entrepreneurs, Malaysian Women Building Career Organisation and Malaysian Australian Foundation among others. “Kita The Musical”
In the month of June 2010, the Hai-O Foundation was proud to be part of an ambitious stage musical project called “Kita The Musical”. The Hai-O Foundation contributed RM300,000 to the project. The production was put together by Xiyue Art & Culture, a non-profit organisation, and Musical on Stage Productions. Jointly organised by the Information Communication and Culture Ministry, National Unity Integration Department of the Prime Minister’s Department, Istana Budaya and Xiyue Art & Culture, “Kita The Musical” brought together talented artistes of all races, working hand-in-hand to create a musical to project the true vision of 1Malaysia, a vision where all races live in harmony, embrace unity in diversity and strive for Malaysia’s progress and prosperity. Old Folks Home Visit
On 28 January 2011, in the spirit of the Chinese New Year celebration, Hai-O’s sports club, “Kelab Muhibbah” organized a charity outing to The Klang & Coast Chik Sin Thong Old Folks Home in Jalan Langat, Klang. There was a total of 23 senior citizens residing at this home. The sports club also visited the Rumah Orang Tua CKS in Jalan Bukit Mertajam, Klang, and there was a total of 15 senior citizens residing there. All the residents placed at these homes are without family care. Ang Pow packets were given to all the old folks, and also donation of food supplies and utilities for the home.
A Seminar On Rheumatism & Arthritis
In our commitment to serve the community in creating greater public awareness on health, Hai-O on a yearly basis has actively organized health talks for the public. On 25 June 2011, Peking Tongrentang (M) Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Sin Chew Daily held a seminar on “Understanding Rheumatism & Arthritis” featuring Beijing Tongrentang’s Dr. Liu Hui-zhen. The seminar was held in Sin Chew Daily’s Petaling Jaya head office. Dr. Liu shared with the public her clinical experience in the prevention of rheumatism, and she emphasized that to prevent rheumatism, one must start with good lifestyle habits, and the most critical part about preventing rheumatism is “early prevention, early detection and early treatment”. Marketplace Changyu Night In Genting Highlands
On 19 June 2011, Hai-O Enterprise Bhd. held a gala dinner “Changyu Night” in Genting Highlands, over a thousand guests were gathered together for an evening of fellowship, fine food and wine. The guests of honour of this event included Tourism Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Ng Yen Yen, and Changyu Group’s Deputy General Manager, Yang Ming who specially flew in from Shandong Province, China to meet with our dealers and agents. During the evening, Yang Ming, on behalf of the Changyu Group also presented outstanding sales recognition awards to the top 10 dealers. Malaysia-China-Asia Pacific Women's Economic Summit
On 5 & 6 March 2011, the Hai-O Group sponsored the “Malaysia-China-Asia Pacific Women’s Economic Summit”. It was organized by the Malaysia-China Friendship Association and the Malaysia-China Cultural and Arts Association, and was held in Sunway Hotel, Petaling Jaya. A total of 12 outstanding women entrepreneurs from China, Singapore, Malaysia and Asia-Pacific were invited as speakers, sharing their analysis on the latest trends in business and economic development in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as sharing their business operation and management practices.
This event is organized in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, and the main theme of the event was “100 Years In Retrospect, Women Continue To Drive Progress”. This historic international event was supported by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development and 26 other non-governmental organizations as coorganizers. This two-day summit received warm response from women of all ethnic groups. More than 600 participants attended the summit, and many insightful comments and questions were raised and thereby created a very exciting and lively interaction between the speakers and the participants.
And to further show our support and appreciation for women’s contribution to society, Hai-O became the first company to declare the 8th of March as a companywide holiday. Southeast Asia Pu'er Tea Trade Fair
On 19 to 28 November 2010, the Hai-O Group sponsored the 6th Annual Southeast Asia Pu’er Tea Trade Fair held concurrently with the MIECC International Book Fair at the Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC). The main theme of this trade fair was “Drink Fermented Tea, Savour Aged Vintage Tea, Store Raw Tea”. The aim of this trade fair is to provide a platform for the tea dealers, producers, customers, and vintage tea collectors from both local and overseas to come together to exchange their views and knowledge, gather market information, etc.. Kelab Muhibbah
Despite the demanding and challenging business objectives and strategies we have set for ourselves, the Group recognizes the importance of supporting employees so they can achieve the right balance between their work and personal/social lives. The Company’s sports club, Kelab Muhibbah was set up in 1998 with the aim of cultivating work-life balance. It is responsible for organizing sport activities, holiday trips, family day activities, etc. and encouraging all its members to participate in its activities. Training & Development
Employees are recognised as a key component of competitive advantage, and every effort is made to harness the competency of the human capital. Towards this end, the Group has shown its full commitment by making a policy of allocating 2-3% of total annual staff cost to the training and development fund. All training programmes are supported by this special fund. The purpose and contents of the programmes are always designed in alignment with the Group’s vision, strategy and corporate values. In the last financial year alone, we have clocked a total of 5,812 training hours with a total of 222 staff undergoing a series of training programmes. Health & Safety

We strive to educate all our employees in being responsible in protecting our environment and it is imperative that they practice 3R on a regular basis both at work and at home. A set of detailed 3R guidelines were prepared to enable our employees to follow and inculcate them in their daily lives.
